School for Gambia gives to institutions

In their drive to complement government’s efforts in providing quality and relevant education in the country, School for Gambia, a Germany-based charitable organisation recently donated bicycles, second-hand clothes and learning materials to some institutions in the North Bank Region.
The beneficiary institutions include, Kinteh Kunda Jannehya Lower Basic School, BHT Hospital and among others.
Speaking to Daily Observer, the councilor of the Farafenni Ward, Modou Lamin Jange, thanked the philanthropists for complementing government’s efforts in supporting education at the grassroots.
He emphasised that the donated items would help the beneficiaries a great deal especially in improving and enhancing a conducive learning environment for the pupils in the area.
“This is not the first time they are helping the education sector, as they have sponsored a lot of students across in various communities in the country.As you can see there are lot of people who are benefiting from them,” he asserted.
While assuring that the materials donated will be used judiciously in their quest to contribute to the attainment of quality education, Jange said the gesture clearly demonstrates the love and concern the donors have for the children of The Gambia.
Presenting the materials on behalf of the team, Gerhard Riebock said his organisation is committed to supporting the needy pupils and students through scholarships provided for the schools, with a view to enabling them have access to relevant teaching and learning.
Also speaking at the occasion, Binta Kinteh, of Challa Lower Basic School, heaped praises on the philanthropists for their invaluable assistance to the Gambian communities especially in enhancing quality education.
He reaffirmed the donors’ commitment to support the education sector.
Tamba Kinteh, the chairman of the Parent Teachers Association of Kinteh Kinteh Kunda Lower Basic School, applauded the donors for their assistance to rural Gambia.
